Giovane Elber (Bayern Munich) holds the Bundsliga record for the fastest goal - 11 seconds! The first soccer league in the United States was the American Football Association, which existed from 1884-88. The first appearance of organized women's soccer in the US may have been in 1922, when a team sponsored by English company Dick, Kerr toured the country -and beat several top men's teams. Columbus Crew Stadium, which opened in 1999, was the first stadium in the US built specifically for a MLS team. It has a seating capacity of 22,500. The name soccer comes from association football, which is the sport's formal name.
