The U.S. Governing body for the sport did not have soccer in its name until 1945, when it became the U.S. Soccer Football Association. The first African nation to qualify for the World Cup was Egypt in 1934. The second was Morocco in 1970. The first soccer league in the United States was the American Football Association, which existed from 1884-88. The first appearance of organized women's soccer in the US may have been in 1922, when a team sponsored by English company Dick, Kerr toured the country -and beat several top men's teams. Alan Shearer has scored more goals in the English Premier League than any other player (240).
