The first African nation to qualify for the World Cup was Egypt in 1934. The second was Morocco in 1970. Saudi Arabia, Iran and Japan have each won the Asian Cup championship three times. The CONCACAF Championship/Gold Cup, first held in 1963, has been won seven times by Mexico and four times by the USA. The U.S. Women's National Team went 51 games without a loss between 2004 and 2007. The current World Cup trophy will be retired in 2038 when there is no more room for the champion's name.
