The rules of the game were first written down in 1863 by the newly formed Football Association in England. Each FIFA World Cup since 1966 has its own mascot, starting with World Cup Willie (a lion). The first appearance of organized women's soccer in the US may have been in 1922, when a team sponsored by English company Dick, Kerr toured the country -and beat several top men's teams. The United States won the first game in World Cup history when it defeated Belgium 3-0 in 1930. Stars George Best, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo all wore #7 for Manchester United.
