Rules of the Game: The goal lines should be the same width as that of the goalposts and the crossbar. The mascots for the 1974 FIFA World Cup in West Germany were two boy characters named Tip and Tap. Unlike the Olympics, FIFA recognizes the four Home Nations of the United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland- as separate entities. The name soccer comes from association football, which is the sport's formal name. FC Barcelona donates more than $1 million a year to UNICEF and wears the humanitarian organization's logo on its jersey.
