Welcome to Their World!

Go behind the scenes with U.S. Women's National Team! The team thought it would be fun to share their version of the World Cup with you. Through their eyes, literally. But be forewarned: some of the footage is rough, lacks elegance and can get quite LOUD. But, hey, it is authentic. Every single bit of footage is directly from the players. Using a sometimes not-so-steady hand, they tell the story of their triumphs and disappointments. On the road for more than a month, hotels became homes and teammates, families. The team crafted these "road movies" with humor and heart - and hopefully you will see that they play simply because they love to play. Welcome to their world!

Soccer has its roots in ancient games like Cuju, which was popular in China around 400 BC. The first African nation to qualify for the World Cup was Egypt in 1934. The second was Morocco in 1970. Attendance for the 1950 World Cup Final at Maracana Stadium in Brazil was an amazing 199,500! America's best performance in the World Cup since 1930 came in 2002, when the Yanks made it to the quarterfinals. The United States Women's national team played its first-ever international soccer match on August 18, 1985 against Italy near Venice.
