Transition and Possession

with Dan Donigan,

St. Louis University Head Men's Soccer Coach

In this DVD Dan Donigan presents transitions and possession. Eight transition areas are covered throughout this presentation, including offensive and defensive transition, activities, purpose and using the goalkeeper. Coach Donigan feels that a transition occurs all over the field, all the time, so players must be aware and ready to react. Other important keys are tactical awareness, support around the ball, number of passes and spacing of players. In a series of transition clips, each element of transition is highlighted. Donigan details many drills with the purpose of simulating game situations, helping players see the big picture and developing habits and instincts. As an added bonus, Donigan also discusses his philosophy on training goalkeepers.

67 minutes. 2006.
