American Bert Patenaude scored the first hat trick in World Cup history in a 3-0 victory over Paraguay in 1930. The U.S. Women's National Team's top two career goal scorers, Mia Hamm and Kristine Lilly, were teammates at the University of North Carolina. Just Fontaine scored 13 goals for France in the 1958 World Cup, the most for an individual in a single tournament.
