England's Football Association first legalized professional soccer players in 1885. The mascot for the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico was a sombrero-wearing jalapeno pepper named Pique. The CONCACAF Championship/Gold Cup, first held in 1963, has been won seven times by Mexico and four times by the USA. The United States has never won a World Cup game on European soil. Bora Milutinovic is the only man to coach five World Cups with five different teams: Mexico, Costa Rica, United States, Nigeria and China.
