The Oneida Football Club was the first soccer club in America and was formed in 1862. The mascot for the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico was a sombrero-wearing jalapeno pepper named Pique. The mascot for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany was a lion named Goleo VI. He had a talking soccer ball sidekick named Pille. Unlike the Olympics, FIFA recognizes the four Home Nations of the United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland- as separate entities. Just Fontaine scored 13 goals for France in the 1958 World Cup, the most for an individual in a single tournament.
