The Puma Atom, Puma’s first soccer boot, was introduced in 1948. In 1982, Argentina’s Diego Maradona led his country to the World Cup title. Wearing Puma boots, Maradona scored the spectacular solo goal which will later officially be voted Goal of the Century by FIFA. Maradona is voted “Player of the Tournament”. Columbus Crew Stadium, opened in 1999, was the first major soccer specific stadium in the U.S.. The current World Cup trophy will be retired in 2038 when there is no more room for the champion's name. The Netherlands' Ernie Brandt is the only man to score a goal for both teams in a World Cup game, accomplishing the feat in 1978.
