Spain's La Liga had its first season in 1928. The first soccer game based on English FA rules in the United States took place between Rutgers University and Princeton University on Novermber 6, 1869. In the early years of of the game, American soccer was dominated by teams from New England, particularly Fall River, New Bedford and Pawtucket. Liverpool came back from a 3-0 halftime deficit to beat AC Milan in penalties in the 2005 Champions League final. The United States won the first game in World Cup history when it defeated Belgium 3-0 in 1930.
