The Puma Atom, Puma’s first soccer boot, was introduced in 1948. At the 1978 World Cup, Argentina’s Mario Kempes led his country to its first World Cup triumph. Kempes is top scorer in the tournament and, like nine other players on the winning team, he wore Puma shoes. Dutch midfielder Phillip Cocu completed a tournament-leading 283 passes at Euro 2004 while wearing Puma boots. Rules of the Game: A goalkeeper must wear colors that distinguish him or her from the other players, the referee and the assistant referees. The Netherlands' Ernie Brandt is the only man to score a goal for both teams in a World Cup game, accomplishing the feat in 1978.
