The youngest player to score in the German Bundesliga was Nuri Sahin of Borussia Dortmund (16 years and 335 days) in 2005. The first appearance of organized women's soccer in the US may have been in 1922, when a team sponsored by English company Dick, Kerr toured the country -and beat several top men's teams. The U.S. Women's National Team's top two career goal scorers, Mia Hamm and Kristine Lilly, were teammates at the University of North Carolina. The name soccer comes from association football, which is the sport's formal name. The Netherlands' Ernie Brandt is the only man to score a goal for both teams in a World Cup game, accomplishing the feat in 1978.
