At the 1974 World Cup in Germany, 80% of all players wore adidas boots. The home team, outfitted head-to-toe in adidas, won the tournament. The mascot for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany was a lion named Goleo VI. He had a talking soccer ball sidekick named Pille. In 1994, Detroit’s Pontiac Silverdome was the first-ever indoor stadium to be used in the World Cup. The team sponsored by Bethlehem Steel won four out of the first six US Open Cup tournaments- 1915, '16, '18 and '19. The first international soccer game was played in Glasgow, Scotland in 1872.
