Uruguay beat Argentina to win the first World Cup in 1930 in front of a crowd of 93,000 people. Everton's Dixie Dean set an English record when he scored 60 goals during the 1927-28 season. The North American Soccer League (NASL) existed from 1968 to 1984 with teams in the United States and Canada. Just Fontaine scored 13 goals for France in the 1958 World Cup, the most for an individual in a single tournament.
