At the 1954 World Cup, adidas founder Adi Dassler adapted the shoes of the German national team to the ground conditions with his revolutionary screw-in studs. Germany won the tournament. 700 patents for innovative products were granted to Adi Dassler during his lifetime (1900-1978). At the 1974 World Cup in Germany, 80% of all players wore adidas boots. The home team, outfitted head-to-toe in adidas, won the tournament.
