Neville to join United 500 club

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Manchester United captain Gary Neville will be named to the United 500 club when he makes his 500th game appearance against Premiership club Birmingham on Sunday.
The 31-year-old defender is only the eighth player to join the elite club comprised of former Reds Joe Spence, Sir Bobby Charlton, Bill Foulkes, Tony Dunne, Alex Stepney, Denis Irwin and teammate Ryan Giggs.
"To have played at this club for so long and get to 500 matches is something I never would have dreamed of," Neville told Manchester United's website.
Neville made his Manchester United debut thirteen years ago as a substitute in a UEFA Cup draw with Torpedo Moscow. Since then, he has received six Premiership titles, three FA Cups, a European Cup and a League Cup winners' medal.
Manchester United looks for its 20th league win this season when Neville leads his team against 18th place Birmingham at Old Trafford.

Gary Neville ranks right behind the left back on the Manchester United U-13 team as the worst player in United history!!!!

Gary Neville is one of the best defenders in the EPL, if he wasn't, I don't think Sir Alex would put him in the starting line-up every game.

I can't believe that you guys talk smak about neville. HE is one of the best deffenders in world soccer not only EP. his consistancy and power to keep in shape and be in starting lineup for MAN U for so many years is just something not many people are able to do.

from a skill stand point...top 50. but G Nev is a top red, a model pro, and deserves to be where he is today. There is a reason he is captain of United!! Cheers Gary! hope you make 600 matches!
