The Red Bull Dynamo of 1836?

What in the name of the artist formerly known as Prince is going on the MLS? Red Bulls and Dynamos. The season starts Saturday with two new team names.
Goodbye San Jose Earthquakes, hello 1836 Houston. Adios 1836, hola Houston Dynamos! See ya NY/NJ Metrostars? Welcome Red Bull New York?
What do you think of the new names in the MLS? And more importantly, MLS kicks off this Saturday -- are you excited?

As far as the names go... maybe Red Bull is a little tacky, but as long as the MLS is in a position to make some money, I can live with it. The better the MLS gets, the better US SOccer gets. So, in that sense I am excited for the season.

As boring as the MLS is, It is nice that it is expanding. Houston does deserve a team due to the huge Latino population. Anyway, I think it will take a lot of time before American soccer comes anywhere near even the lowest European Leagues...Great fans and packed stadiums, though. Good Luck in Germany this summer, Americans! FOREVER BULGARIA!!!
PS-For all of you Mexicans out there:
Mexico 0-3 Bulgaria

Sure its cool with the new teams, but like the last comments, they ain't even close to coming to the lower divisions in Europe, and the day they do, call me up I wanna see that....Just imagine, DC United vs. Bayern Munich, Champions League Final...Anyways thats all for me, and for u american lovers, Germany 4-1 USA... What, thats right, go DFB!!!

The logos for the two teams look pretty cool and the name doesn't really matter. The only thing that matters is that the teams play well. Of course i'm excited for the new MLS season!! I hope i can see some more MLS teams playing euro teams too. I loved watching those games.

The logos look great. If every team in MLS gets a corporate sponsor, it will be a good thing. Look at the names of arenas and stadiums in this country. More money will drive up the quality of MLS. We are not that far behind Euro leagues. Look at basketball in this country. We may have the best league and best talents, but we haven't won a major championship for awhile. Other countries are catching up, and we are catching up in soccer.

I THINK ITS GREAT THAT SOCCER IS STARTING TO GET SOME REAL RECOGNITION HERE IN THE STATES. REMEMBER THERE ARE SOME TEAMS IN OTHER COUNTRIES THAT HAVE THE SAME NAME AS MERCHANDISE, ONE OF THOSE TEAMS IS SPORTING CRISTAL OF PERU WHICH IS A BEER, AND LETS NOT FORGET THE GREAT NEWCASTLE UNITED OF ENGLAND WHICH ALS HAVE THIER OWN BEER OR LAGER. ALL THOSE NEW TEAM NAMES AND LOGOS DOES NOT MATTER THOUGH BECAUSE D.C. UNITED IS GOING TO GET CHAMPIONSHIP #5. D.C. UNITED BARRA BRAVA FOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Bull New York is very tacky. Teams shouldn't be named after their sponsorships or owner's companies. This is rediculous and I don't live anywhere near New York. The Dynamos is not as tacky but they could be given a much better name. I think maybe they are trying too hard here. How about the Houston Heat, cause it is really hot there. Enough of the cheesiness. Also who the heck is the jersey designer for Nike's new international jersey's? Quite possibly the most lack luster jerseys ever seen. Obvious gap between Adidas and Nike design. I pick Adidas all the way.

As long as there are companies willing to sponsor soccer in America, the name can be anything...for now. As American Pro teams change cities, and names so much, they could have a cheesy name, it will only be there for a few years. Once soccer gets a bigger market share and there are maybe 4 more teams, then pickiness about names can be made a semi-legit issue. I believe truly, that I was born in the wrong country, I should be a Brit, or German...Soccer is so much of my life between playing and coaching. My buddies rag on me because they don't have the same passion, about anything.

If any company is willing to put money where their mouth is and add excitement to the MLS, only a idiot would complain. It continues to bring Soccer into the mainstream here in America. the MLS needs more of this. A league with only an eleven year history, is far to young for "Soccer Purist" Get a life.

I've really had my fill of everyone raving about European soccer. Yes, it's of a higher calibre than MLS, what's the point? If we want to grow soccer here in the US we need to support the league and quit bemoaning our exaggerated inferiority. In my opinion, if you're truly a fan of our game you look forward to and take every opportunity to watch practically any (fairly) high level match. By this I mean from decent high school up to and including MLS. I can't help wonder how many "fans" extoll the virtues of European soccer just to appear knowledgeable when, in fact, they couldn't distinquish a world class player from a schubbery! An aside to Edie Espinoza, Nike is, in reality, a Basketball/Running shoe company that got involved in soccer at a point when they saw it being potentially profitable. They haven't got a clue. Unfortunately "money talks". REAL soccer people should have nothing to do with them.

I dont know what everyone else thinks but i think Dynamo is kind of a cool name. Red Bull...not so much. Also, to all the people who are saying european soccer is better, i agree but the US is catching up and will be better than some of the european countries just because we are a lot larger in size and numbers.

Well I like Dynamo as a name, and am happy a company as prominent in the industry as Red Bull is stepping up, hopefully some other big companies will hop in and we can start seeing some corporate soccer wars ;p
I'm all for anything that = big exposure and big $$$ poured into the game giving it a chance to grow.
