Aulas Intends To Retain Stars
(Soccer365.com) - Olympique Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has promised to make a yeoman’s effort to keep their historic side in tact.
The French kings matched the early ‘90’s Marseilles club by clinching their fifth consecutive crown on Sunday night.
Several of the team’s key players are attracting interest from Europe’s finest, including John Carew, Cris, Mahamadou Diarra and Sidney Govou.
“We have a group with a lot of experience and players living in harmony,” Aulas told L’Equipe.
“Players who win are a target for other clubs, but our priority is to keep them by extending their contracts.”
The Gerland chief also admitted that Anderlecht backline prodigy Vincent Kompany could arrive if the Belgian holders become more reasonable on the price.
“It is possible that he will come to Lyon,” said Aulas. “We have not talked to his club yet and €16 million is not the right price for that sort of player.”
