Boca: Battaglia Almost Battle Ready
(Goal.com) - Boca Juniors are on the verge of recuperating one of their most prized assets, midfielder Sebastián Battaglia, now on the home stretch of a long and painful recovery from chronic groin strain. There’s even hope that Coach Alfio Basile may be able to field him in Sunday’s classic clash with Vélez Sarsfield.
The Boquense Captain hasn’t even been able to make his debut in the Clausura 2006 tournament and is still lacking that vital match practise. This would seem to point towards a bench start for the young midfielder, particularly after recent training showed his passing skills were a little rusty.
The good news is that Boca have found a reliable right-sided substitute in the shape of Pablo Ledesma, so Battaglia will be able to slowly return to normal rather than be hastily rushed back into action only to suffer an aggravation to the existing injury.
Battaglia was already due to make his return last weekend, but that was scratched due to the fact that although he’s received the all-clear from the club medical department, the player is still strengthening his muscles and sharpening his reflexes.
