Chivas USA opens with a win
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Chivas USA forward Ante Razov scored twice to hand his team a 3-0 victory over Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center on Sunday in Major League Soccer.
The former MetroStars striker entertained fans in the 21st minute as he shot past Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Scott Garlick from inside the penalty.
Minutes later, teammate Juan Pablo Garcia capitalized on Razov's lead when he curled rookie Sacha Kljestan's ball into the visitors' net.
Razov then recorded his second goal of the night and sealed the win for Chivas, firing a 25-yard ball past Garlick in the 66th minute.
After tallying only four wins and a bottom spot in the Western Conference in 2005, Chivas USA opened their season on a positive note with a victory over RSL.
In week two, Chivas travels to Washington, D.C. to face D.C. United April 8. The following week, the team squares off with fellow California club the Los Angeles Galaxy. The last weekend in April has Chivas at home against the New York Red Bulls.
