Inter Fans Ambush Their Team

(Soccer365.com) - Inter Milan midfielder Cristiano Zanetti was in a state of disbelief after the squad were attacked by about 100 fans as they returned home from a weekend win at Ascoli.

The mob, apparently still rankled over their Champions League exit last week, surprised the players with violent anger at the airport.

"We had gone through the border controls and there was a group of supporters who limited themselves to the odd ironic comment, the same sort that we had already heard on our return from Villarreal," Zanetti told Controcampo. "We thought it was all over until we got to the car park to retrieve our cars."

"There were about 100 people there who were insulting us and throwing stones," he reported. "One of these hit me."

"I was very concerned as nothing like that had ever happened before."

However, it was not an isolated incident for Inter, who were barricaded in their training ground clubhouse by angry fans three years ago.

This is a disgrace. Being passionate is one thing, but this gives all italian fans a bad name. who would ever want to play for Inter?

Jeeze, that is crazy. The players have enough pressure as it is. They shouldn't have to worry about bodily harm being inflicted on them by rabid fans if they play badly.

This is really absurd! Inter had even won against Ascoli!!!

It's relaly great that people are sharing this information.
