Kuqi's late goal saves Blackburn

Blackburn, England (Sports Network) - Substitute Shefki Kuqi scored late in the second half to hand Blackburn a 1-1 draw against Wigan Athletic at Ewood Park on Monday in Premiership play.
With the draw, Blackburn remains in sixth place with 53 points through 32 matches. The club is two points shy of fourth place, which secures a spot in next season's Champions League.
"We have to be pleased with the one point, we haven't been beaten at Ewood since December 3, so it's a great run we're on," Blackburn manager Mark Hughes told the club's website.
"There are six games to go and still plenty to play for."
After strikes from both teams were dismissed in the first half, Wigan striker Jason Roberts fired into the top left corner past Blackburn goalkeeper Brad Friedel to break the deadlock in the 53rd minute.
The home team then grabbed the equalizer with minutes to play as Kuqi shot low and outside the penalty area to defeat visiting 'keeper John Filan.
With the 1-1 tie, Wigan leap-frogged West Ham to gain eighth place. The team will look for its 15th league win when it hosts Birmingham this weekend.
