Madail Claims Scolari Agreement

(Soccer365.com) - Portugal's Gilberto Madail confident Luiz Felipe Scolari will not become England's new coach anytime soon.

Portuguese football chief Gilberto Madail is confident Luiz Felipe Scolari will not break a "gentleman's agreement" by committing to become England's new coach before this summer's World Cup.

Scolari has denied having any contact with the English FA, although he is thought to be high on their shortlist to replace Sven-Goran Eriksson after the tournament in Germany.

Madail, the chairman of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), said: "I do not believe the reports running in the British press. We have got a gentlemen's agreement and it will not be broken. I've got his word and that's it. But he is a professional like any other."

He added: "We'll only make a decision after the World Cup. July 31 is the right time to talk about this issue."

For now, Madail believes there are more immediate concerns for Scolari as Portugal target a top-four finish in Germany.

"Our main concern at the moment is to make our dreams real at the World Cup," he said.
