Marco Gives Huntelaar WC Hope
(Soccer365.com) - Holland manager Marco van Basten has revealed that Ajax phenom Klaas-Jan Huntelaar still has every opportunity to force his way onto the World Cup 2006 roster.
The striker has scored 13 times in 13 games since arriving in Amsterdam this winter, and has an Ereidivisie-best 30 goals this season.
"There is surely time for him to take his chance in the national team," Van Basten told television program Voetbal Insite. "He does well at Ajax, he really comes up."
"He scores with either foot, he is a smart penalty taker with a good free kick and also a strong header of the ball."
"I have decided five of the strikers I will take to World Cup," concluded San Marco. I think Huntelaar may well have a role as a pinchhitter."
