No Rift Between Rooney & Owen
(Goal.com) - A spokesman for Wayne Rooney has rubbished newspaper reports of a rift between himself and England strike partner Michael Owen.
Weekend newspaper stories claimed the Manchester United star had amassed gambling debts worth £700,000 after Owen recommended a private bookmaker. It is claimed that this has led to the pair falling out.
However, Rooney's management company Proactive Sports Management, has flatly denied the claims, saying: "Any suggestion of a rift or a dispute between Wayne and Michael is completely without foundation as far as Wayne is concerned.
"Wayne and Michael remain the best of pals."
The claims have already been rubbished by United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
