Toni Basks In Club Record Glow
(Soccer365.com) - Fiorentina hitman Luca Toni was on cloud nine after matching the club record for goals in a season with his 26th on Sunday.
The Italy forward now shares the standard with Gabriel Batistuta and Kurt Hamrin.
“It’s a big pleasure to have equaled the record,” Toni told Sky Italia. “I have scored 26 goals because I am surrounded by players who help me.”
La Viola drew with Roma on the weekend to maintain a slim fourth-place advantage over the Giallorossi.
“Now let’s hope we can continue doing good things to achieve Champions League qualification, that would be a dream,” he said.
“We will try to battle for this place until the end, but it will be hard due to the fact that Roma are a strong side.”
