Azzurri Unsure Over Totti
(Soccer365.com) - Italy doctors still unsure whether Totti can play June 12th World Cup opener.
The Italy medical staff say they cannot yet make a prudent call on whether recovering ace Francesco Totti will be ready to go for their June 12th World Cup opener against Ghana.
The AS Roma star suffered a bad ankle break in February, and observers have marveled at his quick comeback – but the first Group E match may still come too soon.
"Totti is working with the other players, but we have also worked out a different program for him," announced Azzurri physician Enrico Castellacci.
"Obviously, it's too soon to say that he will be at 100% for the first match of the World Cup," he stated. "His situation will be evaluated more clearly at that time."

They shouldn't risk him, if they're not sure. They could play Del Piero behind the strikers like the did against Germany. But, I'll take Totti @ 80% over most players at 100%.

I agree...Play Del Piero behind the strikers until Totti is ready. The first match is Ghana and if Italy seem to be lacking substitute Totti if needed.

italy definately shouldn't risk because he's their best player. Yeah, I agree, italy could play with del piero behind the strikers (even if its not his position). I think that the main problem is that he can't take a hard hit to soon after the fracture. but italy really needs totti, he's an amazing player
