Benfica: Eriksson Denies Contacts
(Goal.com) - The current England manager, Sven Goran Eriksson, has categorically denied that there have been any contacts made between his agent and the Da Luz Encarnados about a hypothetical return to Benfica that’d see the Swede taking over from new PSV boss Ronald Koeman.
"I’ve also heard the rumours” the Coach admitted “but I’ve not heard a thing from Benfica about an offer. Then again, anything’s possible", explained the tactician to a pres conference given in the Algarve’s Vale do Lobo – England’s home base before the assault on the World Cup in Germany.
Eriksson spoke fondly of his past at Benfica, but made it clear that he wasn’t one for multitasking. “The important thing right now is to talk about the England squad’s preparations for the World Cup” explained the man who coached Benfica twice (1982-1984 and 1989-1992) conquering 3 Superligas (1983, 1984 and 1991) and a Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup) in 1983.
