DeMerit: Team Made The Effort
(Soccer365.com) - Watford defender Jay DeMerit was over the moon after helping the club earn a return to the Premiership with a 3-0 win over Eddie Lewis and Leeds United in Cardiff.
The American Abroad scored the opening goal with a crashing header, but said credit should go to the entire side.
"We prepared for the game like all of the other 48 games this season though and we all knew what we had to do," DeMerit told the club website.
"If eleven guys do their job there's no reason why you shouldn't win and today was testament to that."
"I enjoyed the goal for about 35-seconds and then it was back to my job!"
As for whether he was ready to test himself against the top flight’s finest: "I can't wait."
