Larsson: Sweden can win World Cup

(Soccer365.com) - Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson believes Sweden can shock everyone in Germany this summer by winning the World Cup.

Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson believes Sweden can shock everyone in Germany this summer by winning the World Cup.

The 34-year-old is preparing for his fourth - and possibly final - major competition with his country and has only one aim in mind.

"You have to believe we will win," he told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. "Otherwise you can just forget about going there. Then we have to see what we can and cannot do.

"I do not have to play in this tournament if I do not believe in winning it.

"Of course it is difficult to achieve that, but you need to have a dream."

Larsson, part of Sweden's 23-man squad which has gathered in Visby, has enjoyed almost constant success throughout his club career.

His finest hour arguably arrived in Wednesday's Champions League final, where he came off the bench to set up both Barcelona goals in their 2-1 victory over Arsenal, his last game for the Catalan giants.

The former Celtic hitman, who will end his career in Sweden when he joins Helsingborg after the World Cup, has been one of his country's key players for almost a decade but insists World Cup glory is only possible if the whole team perform in Germany.

"It is about the team and not about one, two, three or four players," he said.

Sweden have been drawn in World Cup Group B, alongside Trinidad and Tobago, Paraguay and England.

Sweden never was and never will be good enough to win a World Cup....sorry fans

Larson, that was a dumb comment. Yeah they have an easy group, besides england. But i wouldn't put any money on them getting past the second round.
