Marquez backs La Volpe

(Soccer365.com) - Mexican national team captain, Rafael Marquez endorsed coach Ricardo La Volpe in spite of all his detractors.

Ricardo La Volpe has been heavily criticized lately, especially since naming his World Cup '06 roster, in which he added some unpopular names, and left out some big ones.

But he does have one important person in his corner: team captain, Rafael Marquez.

Marquez joined the team on Tuesday in St. Etienne where they will begin training for the World Cup, to kick off June 9th.

“I think that yes, he should stay,” said Marquez about the Argentinean head coach. “It’s the first time we’ve had a coach so long, and it’s also the first time we cruised through the qualifiers.”

Marquez, who has been the team’s leader since he was 23, added: “There has been more good than bad.”
“I think continuity is good in any environment, as long as things are going well, and things are going well, so I’d love for Ricardo to stay.”

It is true that Ricardo La Volpe is in the spot light at this moment, specialy because of his final decisions on the G6 roster. One of the most unexpected decisions he made caused major contravercy in Mexico. La volpe excluded Blanco, and even FIFA found this surpricing. Personaly, Blanco has never been one of my favorite players. Blanco seems to have a terriable attitude problem and looses control of a game when loosing; all of suden he forgets to play basic soccer and starts becoming desperate on gol shots. Blanco begins making bad decisions and looses his temper and provoucs conflicts with his oponents. He also, most of the times, trys unsuccesfuly to get a penalty kick ussing his poor acting skills. By doing this, i believe, he looses a posability to score, and i think that in G6 the refs are not going to by his bs. I have a feeling that in one of his stunts he will get a red card and lieve us with one man short; that will be so embarassing for Mixican fans. On the other hand, Blanco is a popular player in Mexico and America fans love him. The fan's arguments is that blanco have the experiouns a player needs in a World Cup event. In a way i feel bad for Blanco, it must be a horriable feeling being left out from the bigest sporting event in the world, it just makes it worst knowing that that half of Mexico feels that he should make an apearance. Don't forget that many promoters thought that Blanco was going to be in, and went on ahead on printing his identity on posters, shirts and i even saw a comercial with Blanco in it, for G6.

I think that Brazil is going to win the world cup

what the heck does brazil winning the world cup have with mexico's coach?

Mexico has a good coach and he made a good desicion with leaving out Blanco. Did you see in the following week Blanco got himself out of his club game that was B.S. how is he expected to get choosen if he acts like a little girl.

well bro blanco has made alot more than what u think, if u dont remember he made a difference at the copa confederaciones in 1999 but yet bro La Volpe shows no humbleness and makes polemic attutudes towards anyone, blanco is the best mexican player besides Marquez

Mexico is a bad team. They would go nowhere, even with blanco

Mexico a bad team? Who beat Brazil, went to penalties with Argentina and scored three goals against Germany in their own field last year? My friend, make no mistake about it. Mexico will surprise the world once again this year. Cheers everybody, First kick is this Friday at last!!

We all know Argentina and Spain will own in this world cup. Mexico is doing pretty good too, enough about Brazil winning, they are getting nowhere with Adriano and Ronaldo tumbling and slowing down. But like i say, plenty of surprises, it's all in the team work. May the best win and earn it.

Always a good job right here. Keep rlliong on through.
