Mexico: Club America nabs Tena for next season

(Soccer365.com) - Luis Fernando Tena, who guided Jaguares to the playoffs this season, will head the Eagles next season.

Club America announced that Luis Fernando Tena will coach the team for the Apertura ’06 tournament, which kicks off in August.

“El Flaco” Tena will take over the helm from Manuel Lapuente, who will resume his duties as a team executive.
For the past two seasons, Tena has coached the Chiapas Jaguares, leading them to the second best record in the regular season, before being eliminated by Chivas in the playoffs.

Tena made his coaching debut in 1994 with Cruz Azul, which he has coached on three occasions. He has also coached UAG Tecos, Morelia, Santos before Jaguares.

As a coach he has two championships, with Cruz Azul in the Invierno 1997 and Morelia in Invierno 2000.
The Clausura ’05 champion, Club America failed to qualify for the postseason in this year’s first half tournament, Clausura ’06.
