Rooney To Miss Group Games
(Goal.com) - England striker Wayne Rooney will miss his country's three group games after a scan revealed he cannot train for at least another three weeks.
Rooney's club Manchester United have confirmed that he will need another scan on June 14 to determine when he can return to the field.
If given the all clear, he could have 10 days to get fit for a possible last-16 tie.
Rooney broke his metatarsal in a league clash with Chelsea at the end of last month.
The news gives England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson some hope that he can be involved in the latter stages, although he must decide by June 9 if he wants to call up a replacement.

This is a big loss for both tyhe manchester united and the England national team..Ronneys legs are gold but that is stiill no reasong for England to not succeded and win the world. but it will be a really tough battle considering they woyuld have to deal withg hgermany and argentina BRAZIL and the usa. England could do it but i dunnno.

Well i feel sorry for both team, (Manchester United) & (England) but England has loads of players, Rooney isn't the whole team. He is gonna come back and the help win it and brasil is going to be hearing some strange scary music, dun duh-da-duh - duhhhhhhhh.

Rooney's injury shouldn't affect Man United. By the time they start training again, he should be recovered. England will miss his presence extremely. It just means guys like Owen & Gerrard have to step it up.

I think england will be fine, if they play the 4-5-1 formation like they did today in the 3-1 win over hungary. It took a while for them to get going, but after a few good set peices they started to open up the game. Also if they are playing that formation they will concede less goals because it is more defensive, therefore taking less pressure of michael owen uptop by himself.
