Wörns Banned For Three Games

(Goal.com) - Borussia Dortmund defender Christian Wörns has been banned for four games by the Deutsche Fussball Bund (DFB) for elbowing Nürnberg's Stefan Kießling during a recent Bundesliga game.

Wörns, 33, assaulted his opponent when Kießling was looking in the opposite direction during Dortmund's 2-1 win. He misses Dortmund's final two games of the current season against Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich as well as the opening fixtures of next season.

The experienced stopper was recently in the news for the manner in which Germany coach Jürgen Klinsmann dropped the 66-times capped defender from his World Cup plans.
