Germany Is Easier, Says Maxi
(Soccer365.com) - Argentina goal hero Maxi Rodrigues has let slip that he finds beaten round of 16 foe Mexico to be tougher than upcoming quarterfinal opponent Germany.
"Mexico has a way of playing that is difficult for us with lots of movement in midfield with defenders also going forward," he explained. "Germany has a different system, and we know it very well."
"It might be easier and doesn't present us with as many problems."

For that stupid comment, i really hope Germany crushes Argentina. Mexico gave Argentina a good game because, that is the best Mexico could have ever played. If Germany plays their best, and Argentina doesn't play well they will get crushed, because Germany has superstars on their team. I am really rooting for Germany and they will win, due to the fact of Argentina's overconfidence.

not really anything stupid in that comment. Argentina knows the style of Germany, knows their players and it will be easier for the team to play knowing all that. I dont think anyone really knows how well Mexico can play except the team so its really hard to say anything about their game against Argentina. They do tend to run the ball with their whole team and some major teams arent used to that and that can give teams troubles.

That comment isnt as stupid as it seems. The Argentines know german football and it is a lot easier to scout. Germany has yet to be tested in this tournament and now they face their first true challenge. My opinion is that Argentina will beat Germany because Germany's defense is very shaky, and the offside trap they play will get them in a lot of trouble.

Germany will definately win against Argentina. I disagree with the statement that their defense is weak, except for Arne Friedrich who hasn't played to well. But Mertesacker, and Metzelder are solid and Philip Lahm is playing world class soccer right now, he is one of the best in the tournament. Plus after the Costa Rica game, the Germans left the offside trap.

The comment is stupid! Why would say that "Germany will be easier to play against than Mexico". I don't think anybody knows Germany's style, because they are playing pretty/attacking football at the moment and from the games i've watched they seem like they can attack from anywhere on the field. I do agree they haven't really been tested. But I'm sorry but with one of the best players in the world in Michael Ballack, i don't know how a team could be so predictable. Argentina is in for a better game than they think. Either team could win, but im just saying Argentina better look out and not underestimate Germany.

This guy says "But I'm sorry but with one of the best players in the world in Michael Ballack, i don't know how a team could be so predictable. " SO!? ARGENTINA HAS CRESPO,TEVEZ, MESSI, RIQUELME, NEED I GO ON? COME ON NOW...I DONT LIKE ARGENTINIANS VERY MUCH..AND I THINK GERMANY IS PLAYING AMAZING AND PROLLY GONNA FACE BRAZIL IN THE FINALS BUT DONT SAY STUPIDNESS LIKE THAT..ON PAPER GERMANY WOULD GET SLAPPED...ITS ALL ABOUT HEART, CONCENTRATIO AND LUCK

Personally, I don't find that comment surprising or particularly misguided. Rodrigues is not saying that Germany will be easy, he's only saying that they might be an easier match up for Argentina than a team that took them to extra time. Easier than that could be a close one goal game. It's not necessarily an underestimation of Germany. He's simply saying they, as a team, are more familiar with the German style of play, and consequently how to neutralize it. That rings true for me, because talent-wise Argentina should have destroyed Mexico, yet they struggled. Besides, anyone who can blaze a wonder strike at the most crucial of times like Maxi did in that match, can say whatever he wants in my book.
As for comments about the match up, I don't see how anyone can realistically call the German defense "very shaky". The fact of the matter is that they have posted shutouts in their last 3 games. That's like calling a brick wall shaky. Even the two goals they conceded against Costa Rica are somewhat misleading. It was the opening match of the World Cup and they were beaten by two individual efforts by Wanchope, a player who's pace and finishing ability could give any defense trouble, who simply converted on the only two good chances he had.
That said, Argentina have so much offensive talent, they will still give the Germans trouble at the back. With Klose and Podolski in such good form, I expect that to be the case at the other end as well. It will be an exciting game for sure.
