Rosicky Believes Final Score Was Flattering

(Goal.com) - Tomas Rosicky scored two goals for the Czech Republic in their impressive 3-0 victory over the United States, but he does not believe the final score is indicative of the entire match.

"We're really satisfied with the win and how we played," said the midfielder, who just signed for Arsenal before the tournament began. "We had problems early on, we couldn't get our timing right.

"It improved halfway through the first half and I think we controlled the ball much better after that. They were tough opponents. I am not sure the score indicates how tough they were."

I don't know about that. I think the reult reflected the way we played. We came out very flat. Arena should have started Eddie Johnson, because as soon as he came on are attack looked more promising. Beasley and Donovan did nothing game. With their pace they should have caused some problems for the Czech's. Rosicky was simply being nice. If we want to hype ourselves up and say were going to prove something, then we should probably start winning.

Well, we definitely got 'treaded on' today. I was kind of worried about our new found confidence ("Don't tread on me"=Nike's way to make more money and make us arrogant)getting to our heads before the cup and I think it did. We didn't play well at all. Donovan didn't get the ball at all. That is partly his fault for not realising that he would have to come back, but the midfield needed to feed it to him more. Lately, Beasley hasn't been starter material, we needed Dempsey in their to start a flair. With Mastroeni and Reyna in the middle, play was much slower. If O'Brien had started, he could have sped up our pace and got things going. Johnson provided a great spark off the bench, we need more of him. Cherundolo makes too many mistakes and can't compensate for his small stature. I'm saying all of this out of constructive criticism because I am still behind our guys 100%!

The CHEESE has spoken and it is 100 percent correct.

Start Eddie Johnson and Dempsey. Sit Beasley, let him and Convey come off the bench with wreckless abandon late in the second half. Pair O'Brien with Reyna. BE AGGRESSIVE or go home losers. C'mon guys.

Dude we suck

I agree, Eddie Johnson was our lone shooter up there, but Brian McBride is talented. He just couldnt produce in the air today because of the Czechs big central defenders. Italy will have the same effect on him. O'Brien came in and had a good showing but fitness might still be a problem for him. I just have one question... Why is Taylor Twellman off the roster? Brian Ching, cmon...

USA.. ENJOY THE FLIGHT HOME..BYE..BYE.

USA soccer fans do you really think you have a chance....wake up and smell the ITALIAN COFFEE....

YES we did play horrible but i think the US will bring a different game to the Italians.
SOOOOOOOO...watch out Italians!!!!!!!!
Go USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!USA!USA

Dude, anonymous, most of us don't think we have a chance, but we still want our team to play to the best of their ability...Which they didn't today.

Connor, i think you said it best man. We all know the US isnt going to win the cup, but it would be nice to give a respectful showing. To maybe show the world, were not horrible at playing soccer. Hopefully we can play better against italy.

Beasley would of done better if Bruce had simply started him on the left. I know Convey was playing well in the sendoff series, but after he was playin poorly, and the US was down 2-0, you pull out Convey, but Beasly on the left, pull Donovan back into midfield, and put Johnson up front. then maybe u can get the ball to Donovans feet, he can feed it to johnson who shoots, or Beasley who is soooo much better on the left, and beasley crosses it into Mrbride, cuz There werent nearly enough balls in the air to make Mcbride really useful.

I don't like the 3-5-2 set, and never have. It clogs the midfield and limits the opportunities up top.
I agree with others here that we need to move Donovan back to the midfield and Beasely back to the left side where they belong.
Say what you will about Frank Hejduk, but he's experienced and plays tough. Losing him before The Cup really hurt. I don't think Koller gets that early goal today with Hejduk in back. Cherundolo makes too many mistakes, and Oneywu showed his youth.
I think against Italy we're going to see a very different set and line-up. Arena's not stupid. He'll make the obvious adjustments.
We're not out of this in terms of advancing, and I think U.S. fans need to show some loyalty instead of the littany of vitriol I've seen on other blogs today.

What have they been teaching Beasley in holland? He needs to remember why he is where he is.... Speed. Use it dang it!!! Also work on that first touch please. Donovan did alot of ball watching and did a poor job. Thank God for Reyna who is a true warrior and I though Gooch did an admirable job as well. What was the deal with the ref? If the US looked at the ball wrong he blew the wistle. Bottom line we need a team that will fight for America if the current bunch arent up for it get some young blood in there. We have proved it can be done.

The US seemed to be asleep. No one had a fire in his belly like Medved has. No one drove the team. We didn't close down. We moved the ball too deliberately. How does the team face these shortcomings and then a play with passion and skill against Italy and finally Ghana. This is Arena's challenge.

I think the US team started believing all the reports that the Czechs were old & slow. The lineup & formation were terrible. None of the players were able to use their strengths. Most of all, there was ABSOLUTELY NO EFFORT OR PASSION. Soccer is about Heart & Passion as Eric Cantona says. In the end, I think the US was simply out-classed.

Yeah, who says "Go USA" or "The Eagle of freedom will fly us to the finals" or even "Usa ROX" now? I completely agree with anonymous, WAKE UP TO THE FREASH TASTE OF ITALIAN COFFEE! Because come Sarurday that is all they will taste after the Italy vs. Usa game. No, I do not like Italy but I prefer them over USA.

You want to know what else I think? If you do not then exit out of this website because I am going to say it anyway. I do not think there is an excuse for the lose of Usa. It is simply, Czech has a top 28 goalie in the world and USA is just a horrible team and no one noticed it. And to those who did not notice it you should have because the only decent player is Donovon. Unless you count Tim Howard who never plays.

If ESPN would keep their mouth shut and face the facts, the people who wouldn't know about US Soccer would not think so negatively about the US Men's National Team. "Oh, We have Kasey Keller, the best keeper in the world!" I think that totally jinxed the US. Cause it's obviously not true and goes to show that we as Americans need to not be so egotistical, cause having the big ego won't win us the World Cup!!!

Oh, and United States... be real. Italy is a more accomplished team than Czech Rep. Czechs are only the first step to the SOL ladder.

The czechs were good, no doubt about it, but the US cant lose 3-0. They need to play their style and not try new formations. I agree to whomever said that they dont like the 3-5-2 because it overloads the midfield and put Beasley on the left and Donovan back in midfield.

The USA also needs more support. We just sit at the game watching. If you saw the Croatia v. Brazil game you saw good fans. Croatia was down 1-0 and were happy because they were close with Brazil. They were setting flares off and a fan even went on the field. As u heard the USA's chances of winning the cup are 80-1, but if they did pull their act together they could have put up a fight with the czechs and maybe won a longshot. They need to settle down, play their game, and show the world that we can play futbol.

ok, comments from someone who was at the game. simply, the US are an overrated side, the Czech's are clearly one of the best teams in the world. what I find interesting reading all of these comments is that nobody has said a word about how much of a disaster Lewis was. I realize he's a converted midfielder, but he still has to defend better then a seventh grader. he also botched the set play from the corner kick we had in the first half, opportunities we can't afford to give away. I'll support them, but with the understanding we're not as good as the top ten to twenty teams in the world. we we're very fortunate to get where we did in 2002 and need to figure out a way to actually attack the goal if we want to get to that point again in a World Cup.

USA soccer is a joke, realize it!

Don't tread on me! BUNCH OF LOSERS, that slogan can be used all it wants, the rest of the soccer world will tread all over the USA

i admit the US performance was disgraceful, but i think the media hyped up the cup wayyy too much. Nike is selling a whole line of apparrel for the US, and eric cantona released a commercial saying, "America, the world no longer looks forward to playing you." The build-up has been long and obviously they're going to fall short of expectations. let's just hope they show a little more passion and play the game

ya imean for the US to have any chance they had to beat the czechs cuz im ean lets get seriosue now there not ganna beat Italy. ezen tho i am a US fan and an Italian fanthere not gana win. the only chance that heir gana win is if totti is still kinda sore or hurt from his tumble wiht eissen in the ghana game, but if thats not so then... there goes our chances...

i also think the way the media (nike and espn in particular) overhyped the US did not help matters at all; neither did the bloated FIFA rankings (i think the US should be 15th and not 5th). all that hype really went to the players' heads, and not in a good way. did they actually underestimate the second-ranked team in the world? this was like the portugal game in reverse; we took our opponents too lightly and paid for it. the nedved-rosicky duo simply destryoed us. the US was obviously intimidated by the settings, with the largely pro-czech crowd. it's going to take a monumental effort to maybe tie italy, beat ghana, and sneak through like in 2002. overall, i think it was the most uninspired performance by the US in arena's tenure; only the poles' weak performance against ecuador was worse than ours in this tournament.

Why would you pull off convey mateo? Beasley is not aggressive at all and convey is playing way better than him. They even switched sides during the first half and beasley still didn't do anything. What bruce should have done was pull off beasley and put on dempsey. Atleast dempsey plays hard. But all in all, terrable game for the US.

THE USA SUCKS REALLY REALLY BADLY. AND THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF ADVANCING.

Another thing that should be mentioned, since no one else will. If a team, shows up for the 1st game of the WORLD CUP with no energy, no motivation, poor preparation, players out of position, then someone needs to call out Bruce Arena. That formation was awful. Donovan is not a striker, never put a left-footed player (Beasley) on the right. Most importantly, don't start pointing fingers at your players in the press. If your going to call out your players, do it in the locker room.

I think that the USA has a good team and if they play to their full potential they have a good chance, in soccer nothing is certain. The player in the USA team have to understand that Soccer is an sport play with passion and you when you play it you have to hassle and fight for every ball, the game against the Czechs was a Joke you guys are all right, they were playing like they were winning. I think that the fist step to better the team is to remove couch Bruce Arena. He is a good couch and has done a good job but lacks the experience necessary to taking them to the next level. It is time to bring an international couch with more experience to take to the team to the next level. USA is a big country full of talented young players waiting to become stars.
