USMNT Gets To Know The Neighbors
(Soccer365.com) - Bruce Arena and the U.S. Men’s National Team spent Tuesday introducing themselves to their suburban Hamburg hosts with their only open practice session of pre-World Cup preparations.
About 1,000 locals came out to meet the team, mayor Hans-Joachim Grote was presented with a ‘Nats jersey with the number “06” on the back and U.S. goalkeeper Kasey Keller was made an honorary member of the police force.
"We just want to thank the city for all their support here while we are training at HSV," Arena said. "We are a little bit of a nuisance as we come through with our procession of sirens and everything else every day."
"We rattle them a little bit, so the least we can do is say ‘Thank you for your support and hospitality’ and have an open session to say ‘Hello’ to the public."
