Elizondo Chosen To Ref Final
(Goal.com) - Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo has been chosen to referee Sunday's World Cup final between Italy and France.
It was expected that that either German Markus Merk or Slovakian Lubos Michel would land the role, but Fifa have chosen the 42-year-old, who sent off England's Wayne Rooney in the quarter-finals.
Dario Garcia and Rodolfo Otero, also of Argentina, will be Elizondo's assistants.
