Iran Appoint Iranian Coach
(Goal.com) - The Iranian Football Federation (IFF) have appointed an Iranian coach to succeed Branko Ivankovic as the manager of the national team.
Amir Qalenoei steered Tehran giants Esteghal to the Iranian Premier League title earlier this year and is charged with the task of leading Team Melli to the 2007 Asian Cup.
Ivankovic was in charge of the team during the World Cup – a disappointing campaign that saw two defeats and a draw.
Dutchman and ex-China boss Arie Haan had been one of the favourites for the position.
