Real Madrid Sign Cannavaro And Emerson

(Goal.com) - Real Madrid have announced that they have signed Fabio Cannavaro and Emerson from Juventus as Fabio Capello's rebuilding programme begins.

The Italian coach has returned to his former club to snap up the duo for a reported fee of around €20million.

Madrid's new president, Ramón Calderón, promised that several new signings would be made in the next few days and he has delivered.

The club's sporting director, Predrag Mijatovic, met with Juve officials in Turin and closed a deal for the players on Wednesday evening.

Cannavaro was one of the true stars of the World Cup Finals as he captained Italy to success, while Emerson has been a key player for Capello at Roma and Juve.

The Italian giants were bracing themselves for a player exodus after the club was relegated to Serie B for their involvement in the recent match-rigging scandal.

if it's true, God bless Real, adding to a stellar line up the best defender in the world one of the best midfielders,is simply stunning, they will be hard to beat in the liga & champions league. I'm curious on why it's for two years only,(it seems that is the time Juve needs to come back to serie A).?

I think the signing of cannavario is a good deal, but at his age,no one can be guaranteed his durability.i wo'nt comment on Emmerson.we all saw what he is capable of against Arsenal and at the last world cup

Finally, Real has some steel in its lineup. For years, they've been missing the guys who play hard, don't mind getting dirty. They haven't had these type of players since Makelele left.

Barcelona just signed Zambrotta and Thuram so they are even stronger than last year,Barcelona just responded to Real, the liga will be interseting next year.

yes it will be an interesting season...as a madrid fan i do wish we got a hold of Kaka. im sure we will win la liga though, sadly some good players must leave who just dont fit in anymore e.g. ivan helguera who has been with us so long.

The forum is a brighter place thanks to your posts. Thnaks!
