Milan Step Up Ronaldo Chase
(Soccer365.com) - AC Milan are set to step up their bid to sign Ronaldo from Real Madrid later this week.
According to Spanish daily AS, the Italian giants will move for the chubby Galactico if they qualify for the Champions League group stages on Tuesday night.
The Rossoneri take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their qualifier against Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade.
And if they prevail, signing Ronaldo will become their number-one priority on Wednesday.
Ronaldo has already had one spell at the San Siro, starring for Inter Milan from 1997 to 2002 before leaving acrimoniously for Madrid.
Milan only have two front-line strikers after the departure of Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea - Filippo Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino.
And the arrival of Ronaldo would be a massive pre-season boost for Carlo Ancelotti.
The one problem for Milan in sealing a deal could be Madrid's desire to take another Brazilian - midfield superstar Kaka - away from the San Siro.
New Bernabeu president Ramon Calderon said during his election campaign that he'd sign Kaka if successful, but so far he's been unable to deliver on that boast.
The player recently signed a new contract with the Rossoneri, but Calderon could play hardball and demand Kaka as part of any deal for Ronaldo.

In my opinion Kaka could take Ronaldo's place and do just as fine if not better than him. Ronaldo is getting older and of course he's gonna get outta shape, but Kaka still has years to go and is just as good.

both are great, but ronaldo is one of the best striker ever play the game. KAKA has great skills. i would take either one. but only ronaldo is getting older and not really has nothing to prove anymore. so, kaka would be a better choice at this moment. also, remember that ronaldo is the best player in the world if he can get his shape back

Ronaldo? Is that the best that AC can do? They should be out getting young, fresh players to develop in their system, not past-their-prime injured superstars. Keep Kaka, let Ronaldo go.

Ronaldo still has some jump, but I think he would falter in Italy. He should stay in Spain.
