Diarra Bracing For Lyon Return
(Soccer365.com) - Real Madrid summer catch Mahamadou Diarra can repeat his role as a member on the winning side when they open Champions League play at former club Lyon.
The French champs took the home meeting in last year’s tournament by a convincing 3-0 margin.
"I don't want to go back there to lose," Diarra told the club website. "I'm familiar with French football and I know what we have to do to avoid losing."
"We are capable of springing a surprise."
The midfielder admitted he has no idea how the Gerland faithful will welcome him on his return.
"I don't know how the fans will react," he said. "Maybe some people will cheer me for the four seasons that I was there, but I'm not sure."
"Anyway, I have to be focused on the game and can't afford to get nervous about that."
