No Captain: Henry out for Hamburg match

London, England (Sports Network) - Arsenal captain Thierry Henry will not dress for Wednesday's game against Hamburg due to a foot injury suffered in a Euro 2008 qualifying match last week.

Henry supplies 50-percent of the offense for the London squad with one of the team's two goals in the early season.

The captain should only miss the Champions League Group G opener, as he's listed out for 2-3 days.

"Thierry Henry is not playing," Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger told the club's website. "He has a foot injury, he doesn't know how he got it but he got it during the game against Italy."

"We have a big squad and in the short term we can cope without him."

Wenger made alterations to his 18-man squad with the addition of Theo Walcott, who rested during Saturday's 1-1 draw to Middlesbrough, and return of goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

The German fulfilled his two-match suspension at the conclusion of last weekend's game.

Henry scored three times for France in the World Cup this summer en route to a World Cup Final appearance.

With the retirement of French star Zinedine Zidane, Henry looks to follow in his footsteps.

This is not good for Arsenal as Henry is such a good player. It will be interesting to see how Arsenal will do against Hamburg as you can never count out the Germans as they never say die!

I must say that right now Henry is the best of the best,he's the one guy you can't replace.

Henry is one of my favorite players of today, with Totti and Messi. The gratest of all time for me is joahn Cruyff(Holland)I don't think he got the recognition he deserved because Holland lost the finals.(74 & 78)in my eyes top 3 favorite of all time: 1-Cruyff,2-Roberto Baggio,3-Platini(I'm not snobbing Pele' and Maradona it's just my favorites)Beckenbauer & Zoff the best examples of soccer legends.

Hi d,yes I agree as I stated before Henry right now is my top player,I also love Cruyff,I think he was the most complete player ever,But Pele' will always be the king. The best of all time in my opinion(the ones I saw): Yaschin,Zoff,Buffon,Beckenbauer,Baresi,Maldini,Krol,Best,Blochin,Platini,Zico,Pele,R.Baggio,Muller,Falcao,Kempes,Maradona,Van Basten,Scirea,Ronaldinho,Henry,Zidane,Keagan,I'm sure I'm forgetting many others.

Pele was a great player. No doubt about it, maybe the best of his time (maybe). But saying he was the best player in the history of football is an insult. Not only to the many many players now better than him but an insult to the game overall.
This are facts: Pele never played outside Brazil, (don't say US please) When brasilean or argentinean players retire from football they usually go to play to their own country teams ....and guess what?? they are ALL stars.
Maradona successfully played in the top league teams, and he went further he did something almost no player have ever done before. He played for Napoli the worst team; in the league with the best players in the world like the Italian Calcio,.. and he made them Champions,... twice. Same example in the World Cup he won in Mexico 1986, same example in Boca Jr 1981 etc etc etc.
So before saying Pele was the best, think all the players you are insulting, Maradona, Zidane, Totti Ronaldinhio, Henry, Owen, Maldini, etc
I don't think Pele would even be in the top 500 today. That's it.

Henry is a great player. Too delicate though. When he runs on the pitch he reminds me of a deer running in a feild. Elegant but delicate. Lacking the killer instinct. Yes I know he scores lots of goals. He should play a more fierce, hungry style of football. It's football not ballet.

Tony T
i know its your opinion, but you are stupid.
No one will ever reach Pele, Maradona, Cruyff
and beckenbauer.
These are the top 4.
Pele is the most perfect player of all time.
He was a killer with the head, he was good
with both feet, deadly pace, and technique, great balance, vision and a smart player.

Him,cruyff, maradona and beckenbauer are the best.

Pele is a hero, do you know what he done for fifa and kids in africa? i don't think you do,
and besides maradona and cruyff maybe good as him, but he will still be the most perfect.

i mean hernan

Ah yes, neicly put, everyone.
