Perotta: World Champs Must Lead

(Soccer365.com) - AS Roma midfielder Simone Perotta says that he and the club’s other World Cup 2006 winners – Daniele De Rossi and Francesco Totti – need to show the way when Champions League foes Shakhtar Donetsk come to town.

"Winning the World Cup gives you more inner strength," he explained. "Right now, I've got enthusiasm to spare."

"We must all three of us show we are world champions, not just from the point of view of performance, but also behavior on the pitch."

If Perotta really means what he says that's a good thing.Another good thing is at least they don't have the liar Materazzi playing on this team with them. Pay Piva!

Perrotta meant it and delivered it,Roma won 4-0,and Totti seems to be back,De Rossi also scored,as for Materazzi,he was no saint in serie A either,a very physical player and caused trouble at the end of games as well.

I can't imagine Materazzi playing in Argentina as they would take his head off down there.

there's lots of guys like materazzi unfortunately, lets not forget this guys are human, mistakes can happen but what separates the real professionals is the mind, a professional athlete is not just talent, the mental approach is key.Totti is a perfect example,a talented player but he's known to lose his cool if taunted.(look at euro 2004) and Zidane took the bait in WC 2006.They were not the first and won't be the last.

Hey rasputin,i found you I enjoyed our debate on the other forum, but it was closed. regardless, the other morons that responded merrin & mari , got in the middle (what a bunch of homos) you I had fun with, but damn you must realy hate materazzi.

Tony P! My old friend!

Actually I don't hate Materazzi or anyone for that matter as life is short & why waste it with hate. I just don't have much respect for Materazzi as ok sit down for this one...You will not believe what your reading...Materazzi has very good skills. Actually world class skills. That being said rather than use those skills he seems to spend more time inflicting dirty & sometimes dangerous fouls on players he plays against. Go to www.youtube.com & type in Materazzi's name & you will see what I mean as it shows all his fouls against other players from last season. As far as I'm concerned there is nothing wrong with playing hard but all the over the top fouling is not called for.

To rasputin: I know Materazzi is a dirty player,in serie A he is hard and holds nothing back,he punched a player and nearly ended his career after a game.he plays for Inter and that alone twists my you know what.He was actualy playing in the world cup due to Maldini retiring and Nesta being hurt, his headers did help(2 goals)but the danger of playing with ten men is always there when he plays.Always a pleasure chatting with you.

Tony ...

My gripe about Materazzi was never about his skill level as he has very good skill. It just has to do with what you mentioned about him being a dirty player. If he was just a below average player with poor skills then I could understand him being a hack. I just think it would be better if he used his skills more as he has very good skills. In Serie A play it's almost as if he can do anything he wants. I've seen games when he just floors other players, not even playing the ball & when the player in question gets up to complain about it the referee just waves the player off. I can't understand that at all for the life of me.

BION I'm impesrsed! Cool post!
