Barca-Chelsea: The Aftermath
(Goal.com) - Uefa president Lennart Johansson has said the governing body is "sure" to investigate the Champions League match between Barcelona and Chelsea.
There were ten bookings during the game, and frequent occasions when players surrounded the referee, who was confronted on the pitch at the end by Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard.
"I cannot deny that we have been sleeping by not taking action earlier," said Johansson after the tempestuous encounter - the latest such meeting between these two sides.
"I'm sure now things will happen as it was so obvious and the people we had in place who saw it will report it."
Chelsea must expect a fine because any team whose players collect five or more bookings in a match are automatically punished.
The size of the fine and any penalty for Rijkaard will depend on the reports of Italian referee Stefano Farina and Uefa match delegate Wolfgang Thierrichetr.
Uefa, anxious to eradicate instances of players surrounding the referee during a match to harangue him, may choose to make an example of both clubs - as well as of Rijkaard.
"I'm against this behaviour but I don't make the decisions, they are taken by the disciplinary bodies," said Johansson.

UEFA needs to stop setting double-standards when it comes to discipline and punishment. Barcelona played like a bunch of girls. Constantly trying to draw fouls and trying to get players booked. I am NOT a Chelsea fan, but that game made me dislike Barcelona. A team with so much talent has to resort to such childish & bush-league tactics. Also, if any other manager would have harassed the referee the way Rijkaard did, they would have gotten a HUGE punishment. No onjectivity in UEFA, that's the big problem.

The Refs are rubbish. Ever since Collina retired, there isn't a single top-class referee. The people running UEFA are even worse.
