Hughes Hints At Beckham Interest
(Goal.com) - Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has suggested he could move for David Beckham were the former England captain to become available.
Beckham’s contract at Real Madrid expires at the end of the season, and although he has insisted he is happy to stay at the Bernabeu, a renewal looks no closer to being agreed.
"I think everybody would be interested in David Beckham," Hughes told The Sun.
"I am sure if he came on the open market, there would be a few people in the queue for him. He is an exceptional talent and has been for a long time."
Beckham has this week been linked with a move to the US.
The former Manchester United star was in action for Real in the Copa Del Rey on Thursday night and was on target as his side beat Ecija 5-1 to qualify for the last 16 of the competition.

Hmmm, This is very interesting. Hughes was a great player in his day for Manchester United & the thought of Beckham playing in England once again sounds interesting but I wonder if he can handle the pace of the English game once again. Beckham by far is one of the best dead ball specialist in the world & I would rate him on par with any of the best dead ball specialist in the world, even the ones' from Brazil & Argentina. That being said I don't feel he has the pace he once had even though he plays with so much grace & no waste of movement. My guess is he will end up in America, in particular, Los Angeles as he has a huge soccer academy here which rakes in quite a bit of money. I think if the price is right for him he will play here in Los Angeles as the pace of the MLS is more suited to him. Either way I hope he keeps on playing as he still has loads to offer the soccer world as he plays with that classic old school English style & there's nothing wrong with that:)

I think David Beckham is going to come and play in the M.L.S. for the New York Red Bulls. Ya.

I think David Beckham is good at being the water boy in Spain for Real Madrid. If he goes back to England who will fetch the water for Cannavaro and the rest of the STARTERS.

Giova,
Come on now, why did you have to get these people all riled up for? What's the point? If you do not care for Beckham that's your right as you can like/dislike whoever you choose just keep in mind not everybody feels the same way you do. Usually when I come across your post I just laugh & move on as most of the time it's borderline verbal numbness. Normally I ignore you as your like an annoying fly that one swats but I had to say something this time. It's bad enough you want to argue with everybody but actually you should stay clear of topics like Beckham that you don't like. The only people here that write decent thoughtful post are Heath Young & Tesero. Other than that it's like grade school here with you giova. Be a man! Grow up!

I think the question here will be whether or not anyone is willing to pay the 5 Million pound transfer fee that Real has said they would be willing to take for Beckham during the January transfer window. If another club is willing to put up that transfer fee and can put an offer on the table that Beckham is interested in, it may well preclude a move to MLS.
With the salary cap, etc. the best chance of a move to MLS for Beckham would be if he doesn't get the offer he wants for a January transfer and waits until the summer transfer window. At that point, his contract with Real will be up and he would be available on a free transfer, so all an MLS club would have to do is come to terms with Beckham himself. That would be doable for either Red Bull or LA. With no big transfer fee to worrry about, the available endorsements is those markets would make up for what they can't offer in salary.
I think Beckham wants to come to MLS, but several clubs will put offers out there that may be difficult to pass up.
As for where he is capable of playing, I think he could still fit in at mid-table premiership clubs that need a distributing midfielder and dead ball specialist. He may not have the pace to run the flanks for 90 minutes in the prem anymore, but putting him in the right position with the right club could take advantage of his strengths without exposing his lesser fitness and pace too much. In MLS, it would be the physical nature of the game that would give him the most trouble, but he would be enough ahead of the game in terms of vision and speed of play that he would be effective.

Personally I dont think that Beckham will go play in the US(as much as I want him to) even though he has many camps here as for being transfered I think he might go back to the Premiership

Actually, to amend my earlier comments...
With the recent passing of the marquee player rule in MLS, the cap would no longer stand in the way of an MLS club signing Beckham. The only thing stopping LA or NY from signing him now would be available funds. If the money is there, it could easily happen. However, a European club may well step in with an offer that MLS can't match.
