Odonkor Blow For Betis
(Goal.com) - David Odonkor is to undergo tests to see whether he will require surgery after suffering a knee injury in Germany's UEFA Euro 2008 qualifier against Cyprus last week.
The Real Betis Balompié forward damaged his kneecap during the encounter and if tests back up the early prognosis then the 22-year-old could be out of action for around three months.
Betis’ Doctor Tomás Colero confirmed that the player had suffered an injury but is keen to do further tests to see the extent of the damage when Odonkor returns to Spain.
With the club already short on attacking firepower, the news will come as a real blow to coach Javier Irureta who is rumoured to be looking to bring in a new forward in the winter transfer window.
Odonkor, who has completed only one game for Betis this season in the league, remained in Germany with the permission of his club until Thursday, as his wife is due to undergo surgery there.
