Ronaldinho Repeats As FIFPro Winner
(Goal.com) - For the second straight year, Ronaldinho has been selected by his peers as the best player in the world.
Barcelona ace Ronaldinho claimed his second straight FIFPro World Player of the Year Award, which is voted upon by fellow professional soccer players. The Brazilian found himself on the FIFPro World XI as a result (scroll below for the list).
"This is a huge honour and also provides important motivation to keep striving for future progress," said Ronaldinho.
Barcelona players raked in several awards. Lionel Messi was selected for the ASPIRE Young FIFPro Players Players' Award, and Samuel Eto'o was voted FIFPro Merit Award winner for his inspiring stance against racism in football. The team itself was honored with the FIFPro Players for Peace Award for Barcelona's decision to allow UNICEF to advertise on the club's shirt. Four Barca players appear on the World XI list.
Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo won ASPIRE FIFPro Young Player Fan Award.
The FIFPro World XI included four players from Italy's World Cup team and three players from runners-up France.

At least an Italian didn't get it!

I guess his mediocre form for the last 5 months didn't factor in the voting. Quite frankly, he wasn't even the best player from Brazil. It was clearly Kaka.

They gave the award to whom they felt deserved it & also who the selected player's peers felt it should go to. It was not given to an Italian, that's the way it is, get over it!

Hard to believe he got it again considering for the most part in 2006 he was missing in action regarding his form. It's politics as usual with FIFA as they always promote the poster boy aka ... flavor of the month that generates the most cash flow for the sport.
